Hyundai has given the popular i10 city car a fresh facelift ready for 2017 with new styling and technology. This is ahead of the Paris Motor Show, where the i10 will debut its new facelift to the public for the first time.
The new model will go on sale in the UK at the start of next January and will compete against the likes of the Kia Picanto, Volkswagen Up, Seat Mii and Skoda Citigo. The i10 has been around since 2013, but this mid-life makeover will keep it in the race with other competing cars.
Even though these updates on the i10 are only minor, they definitely add freshness and class to the city car model. The updates focus on LED daytime running lights and a new front grille. Other altered exterior features include a re-profiled bumper at the back, newly shaped side mouldings and a new 14in alloy/steel wheel design.
The current i10 is functional, robust and practical, but to keep it in line with other premium rivals, Hyundai wants to add a bit more charm and technology to the popular compact car. The South Korean car manufacturer plan to do this by adding a 7in touchscreen infotainment system which will feature Apple CarPlay, Android Auto functionality and sat nav. This will be available on higher spec cars, the satellite navigation has a 7-year subscription to live services giving you real-time weather and traffic updates. Inside will also come with new colour options for the upholstery so you can tailor your i10 to suit you and your style.
Safety on the new revamped model includes lane departure warning and a front collision warning system, both using a new front-mounted camera. These clever systems sound an alarm alerting the driver if the sensors detect danger. On the new city car, you’ll also get air conditioning, heated front seats, 14in alloy wheels, a heated steering wheel and LED daytime running lights.
No changes have been made under the bonnet, with the 1.0-litre and 1.25-litre engines remaining the only options. As standard, the i10 comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox or you can opt for a 4 speed automatic.
The new i10 will go on sale in the UK in January 2017 with a similar price tag to the current model. This is the only info we have so far, but once the i10 is revealed at the Paris Motor Show this September we’ll update you with more information and photos.
