After its Paris Motor Show launch in 2016, the Citroen C4 Cactus has gone from strength to strength, winning the coveted “Most Beautiful Interior 2015” at the International Automobile Festival in France.
The prestigious awards ceremony is judged by renowned architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte, with the panel including enthusiasts and experts from the worlds of motorsport, fashion, design, culture and media. Annually the International Automobile Festival is held in Paris and looks to celebrate automotive design, paying tribute to the past year’s finest automotive achievements.
In addition to winning over the judges, the Citroen C4 Cactus has already won over a large amount of customers, reaching more than 42 000 orders in 2014 alone in the short space of time following its autumn introduction to the showrooms. It also picked up BBC’s Top Gear Magazine Hatchback of the Year 2014.
Judged on a car models successful ability to blend harmony of shapes, materials and colours, the accolade is well deserved for the pioneering Cactus, which utilises a de-cluttered dashboard and pure smooth surfaces that are bold. A floating dashboard leaves the floor space free for greater foot space, with sofa style front seats providing a throwback to a classic age of motoring. There’s a great simplicity in the design that contrasts with the technology mounted on the dash, including an 7 inch Touch Drive digital interface that acts as both the in-drive entertainment hub and also the SAT-NAV.
“Simple To Love, Simple To Live, Simple To Share” is the strap line and perfectly summarise the personality of the Cactus, with pure function and form being balanced to create a modern design that is impressive both inside and out. A streamline stance increases fuel economy by 20% on the original, and itself incredibly efficient C4, with a hybrid engine further improving fuel efficiency by 30%.
The innovative “Airbump” door technology is the first production example in the world, protecting the Cactus from everyday bumps and scrapes in a popular place for such occurrences. The TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) air capsules absorb impact and help prevent scratches. They also add to the overall eye catching design and require no maintenance.
With such durability and finesse, we thought it was the perfect hatchback for Taunton Titans, our local rugby union team officially sponsored by Howards Citroen.
