The Kia K4 - Coming Soon

The new Kia K4, positioned between the VW Golf and Passat in size, is set to launch in the UK later this year. Aimed at buyers not quite ready to make the leap to electric, the K4 slots between the compact (C-segment) and mid-size (D-segment) classes — think Skoda Octavia in spirit and size.

One standout option is the exclusive Sparkling Yellow paintwork, sure to draw attention. Opting for GT-Line trim adds 17 or 18-inch alloy wheels, wheelarch cladding, and extended side sills for a sportier look. Inside, the GT-Line features a three-spoke steering wheel with paddle-shifters. However, full UK specifications and pricing remain under wraps for now.

The K4 measures 4,440mm long and 1,850mm wide — that’s 249mm shorter than a Skoda Octavia but longer than a VW Golf. Its width matches the Golf exactly. Kia claims class-leading rear legroom at 964mm and 973mm of headroom, with a boot capacity of 438 litres — more than the Golf’s 381 litres, but smaller than the Octavia’s 600 litres.

As the “K4” name suggests (rather than “EV4”), this isn’t an electric vehicle. Instead, the K4 launches with several combustion options:

  • A 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine with a 6-speed manual gearbox

  • A mild-hybrid version of the same engine with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic

  • A 1.6-litre T-GDI petrol, available with 148bhp or 178bhp, both paired with the 7-speed auto

  • A full hybrid will join the lineup later

Performance and efficiency figures will be announced closer to launch.

Inside, the K4 boasts a near-30-inch-wide digital display setup combining:

  • 12.3-inch instrument cluster

  • 5.3-inch climate control display

  • 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard across all trims. Higher trims get a wireless phone charger, Harman Kardon sound system, and heated/ventilated artificial leather front seats. There’s also Digital Key functionality, allowing your smartphone to act as a key, and a voice assistant activated by saying “Hey Kia.”

Safety features include:

  • Blind-spot monitoring

  • Collision avoidance assist

  • Smart Cruise Control 2 with emergency stop capability

  • Highway Driving Assist 2.0

These systems aim to make motorway driving safer and more relaxed.
