    Peugeot i-COCKPIT Explained

    Peugeot wanted to revolutionise the driving experience by reinventing the driver's cockpit. They have succeeded with their plan, let us introduce to you i-COCKPIT by Peugeot. We want to explain to you how it’s all come together and how it will benefit you as a driver.

New Generation of i-COCKPIT

Peugeot has launched a new and improved i-COCKPIT, they have said: "This is our vision of tomorrow's driving environment". The next generation has advanced safety and comfort features and advanced sensory engagement for both passengers and drivers. The i-COCKPIT showcases Peugeots new interior design, which has been designed for the future. This new design incorporates advanced ergonomics, head-up digital instrument displays and interactive touchscreen technology. All these amazing features are designed and installed to enhance your driving experience.

The new generation i-COCKPIT is available with the following models: all-new Peugeot 3008 SUV and the all-new 5008 SUV

Peugeot wanted to revolutionise the driving experience by reinventing the driver's cockpit. They have succeeded with their plan, let us introduce to you i-COCKPIT by Peugeot. We want to explain to you how it’s all come together and how it will benefit you as a driver.

Let us start by looking at the driving position. Your seat can manoeuvre in 2 directions; backwards and forwards to give you the optimal leg and foot positioning, as well as up and down, offering you a comfortable driving position which is helpful for smaller drivers. You're kept in comfort by perfectly shaped side bolsters, providing a comfy supportive driving position.

Then we have the compact sports steering wheel (dimensions 351mm x 329mm). The designers have set this lower than any standard positioned steering wheel across all cars. Reason being, all driver information can be easily viewed rather than peering through the steering wheel at your display. Peugeot designers have also made the steering column adjustable in 4 directions, up down, forward and backwards offering you the option to find the optimum position for your driving position and style.


The designers have positioned the centre console much higher than before, providing an easy to read and access the console. You’ll find inlaid into the dash a large 12.3inch digital display, this provides coloured graphics. You’ll be able to program this to suit you, it’ll provide as much or as little information as you require. Virtual dials can be displayed offering a classic analogue set-up, or you can opt for a navigation display or driving assist info offering you roller style speedo and rev counter. With the re-positioned steering wheel lower than standard, combining this with the heads up display, the driver's eyes are always on the road ahead. This head up instrument provides a driver information to be accessed, making driving easier and safer.

Peugeot has gone big by offering a 9.7inch touchscreen, this is bigger than any screen previously with this brand. As everything in the i-COCKPIT, it’s driver focused, this is no different from the touchscreen display, it's set at an angle to be easily viewed by the driver. Its feature controls are;

  • Wireless inductive smartphone charging plate (only in the GT Line)

Gilles Vidal, design director at Peugeot didn’t want drivers using the sensitive touch screen while on the move. For this, they have come up with an ingenious idea. They added 7 chrome direct access buttons, situated below the air vents. These shortcuts allow the driver to select between:

  • Climate Control
  • Navigation
  • Smartphone Functions

Get amplified, the GT Line and GT variants offer an ‘Amplify System’. This provides 2 distinctive modes, ‘Boost’ and ‘Relax’, which change the cabin’s ambience by utilising lights, speakers and fragrance diffusers, so you’ll have 3 switchable fragrances that can be injected into the cabin. Enjoy these fragrances sat in the ultimate luxurious massage while sat in your seat, with an 8 point seat massager.

You can change the screen colours and amplify the engine sound through the speaker system when in sports mode. ‘Boost’ mode, when selected will sharpen up the throttle and steering providing you with a more dynamic driving experience.

So you see, they have made driving easier and more enjoyable, design can incorporate function and form. The i-COCKPIT is avalible in the 208, 308 and the 2008 SUV
