Yeovil Freewheelers, also known as YFW Blood Bikes, are a group of emergency bikers who operate through Dorchester, Yeovil, Taunton and Wincanton.
They are a group of volunteer bikers who ensure that blood, and lots of other supplies are delivered to hospitals, hospices, nursing homes and even private addresses quickly so they really provide an invaluable service.
The YFW were founded in 1978 by Mr Cecil Turner, and have now been running for over 40 years, making them the oldest operational Blood Bike group in the country, and they are available whenever they are needed 365 days a year.
Because they are volunteers this means they do all of this completely free of charge, and rely solely on donations.
At Howards, we are only too happy to be able to help raise some awareness for this really worthwhile cause. Not only that but we also have a team from Howards who will be taking part in the Weston-Super-Half to help us raise some money for the YFW to enable them to carry on their amazing work.
So, if you are down at the Weston-Super-Half on Sunday 14th May look out for, Kieran Smith, Tom Bieda, Tom Newman, Daniel Pimm, James Minhinnick, Jacob Hollings, Lewis Hughes, Ashley Wilson and Tony Nichols who will raising as much as they can!
If you would like to help support this cause then please find Kieran or another member of the team taking part who have their sponsorship forms with them!
