Finley, a student at Parkfield Primary School, wrote a letter to Howards, asking for help to fund a flagpole so that they could celebrate being named an Eco-School.

After noticing what an impact Parkfield had made, and the lengths they were going to so that they could be more environmentally conscious, Howards were only too happy to support Finley and his Eco Commitee.

On Tuesday, Howards' Group Marketing and BDC Manager, and Marketing Director, visited the school to meet the committee and witness the flag being raised. Upon listening to the children speak about what they had been up to, and how passionate they were about this topic, Louise and Gemma were blown away. The children had also prepared informative posters about what they had been doing within their school.

Throughout the year, Parkfield School's Eco Committee have developed a board in the hall, which lets other children know what they are currently up to and their action plan. This board, accompanied with assemblies surrounding the subject, have led to a school full of children who truly value about the environment and sustainability.

Planting Trees
The children have previously planted over seventy trees along the field, with the aim to create a copse to encourage new wildlife, and support those that are already there; badgers have inhabited the hedgerows for many months now, and the children are fascinated by the tunnels they have created next to these new trees, and in their secret garden.

Recycling
Parkfield Primary have implemented various methods to increase recycling throughout the school.

This includes bins dedicated to crisp packets. recycling ferrero rocher boxes, wine bottles, batteries and more.

Furthermore, Parkfield are participating in the recycling of glasses, which we didn't know was possible! The school have a box by reception where students can bring in old pairs of glasses, where they will be taken to Boots Opticians, cleaned and mended, then sent to charities who work with developing countries to provide optical training and sight care.

Biodiversity
The school spent a long time creating bug houses throughout their secret garden, including one over a metre tall! It encourages various minibeasts into the area so they can remain sheltered, lay their eggs, raise their young and hide from predators.

Various birdhouses have also been placed within the secret garden, to encourage those tiny visitors into the school! Birds provide many positives, such as eating bugs that may be harmful for the school's greenery, and eliminate the need for harsh insecticides. They also help keep the surrounding ecosytem balanced, preventing any overcrowding from certain species.

Sustainability
Throughout the last year or two, Parkfield have started to grow their own veg and herbs, with the intention of using them within the children's meals.
Their aim is to expand the size of their herb garden, and encourage children to grow their own vegetables at home where possible, as it gets the children outside and gives them an exciting responsibility of their own. Gardening can be valuable skill for children to learn as it stimulates all five senses, and allows them to be assertive over their garden's needs.

Raising the flag!
During the visit, the children were finally able to raise their flag to celebrate their title of an Eco-School!

Finley did the honours, as it was his letter that got Howards involved!

The children were very pleased to see the flag proudly raised in their field, and were excited to share the achievement with others in their next assembly.

We can introduce you to a selected panel of lenders, which includes manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent. An introduction to a lender does not amount to independent financial advice and we act as their agent for this introduction. Our approach is to introduce you first to the manufacturer lender linked directly to the particular franchise you are purchasing your vehicle from, who are usually able to offer the best available package for you, taking into account both interest rates and other contributions. If they are unable to make you an offer of finance, we then seek to introduce you to whichever of the other lenders on our panel is able to make the next best offer of finance for you. Our aim is to secure the best deal you are eligible for from our panel of lenders. Lenders may pay a fixed commission to us for introducing you to them, calculated by reference to the vehicle model or amount you borrow. Different lenders may pay different commissions for such introductions, and manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent may also provide preferential rates to us for the funding of our vehicle stock and also provide financial support for our training and marketing. But any such amounts they and other lenders pay us will not affect the amounts you pay under your finance agreement, all of which are set by the lender concerned. If you ask us what the amount of commission is, we will tell you in good time before the Finance agreement is executed.
