Taking the spotlight in this year’s European Le Mans Series is the brand-new French Musanne-based team So24! by Lombard Racing.
So24! Drivers
French drivers, Olivier Lombard & Vincent Capillaire along with British driver Jonathan Coleman are all eager to take on the challenge of the 2016 European Le Mans Series.
Jonathan Coleman (far right), a Director of Howards Motor Group has extensive experience in the European Le Mans Series racing for a full season in 2014 with Pegasus Racing. He also raced with the team in 2015 at Silverstone, the home of British motorsport and Estoril.
At 33 years old, Jonathan will help the So24! team succeed in their debut season with good knowledge of the ELMS race tracks and an eye for victory.
The Car: LMP2 Ligier JSP2 Judd
All three drivers will be behind the wheel of the lightning fast n°22 LMP2 Ligier JSP2 powered by a Judd HK LMP2 engine during the six rounds of the European Le Mans Series, as well as the daring 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Howards established as key sponsor for So24!
We have secured an exciting new deal with So24 Lombard Racing which has resulted in Howards Group becoming one of the main sponsors of the new team throughout the 2016 European Le Mans Series!
The ELMS also includes the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans race at Circuit de la Sarthe, Maine, France. The drivers will be pushed to their absolute limits as the 24hr race is well-known for testing mental and physical barriers.
In the sponsorship terms, Jonathan Coleman (son of managing director Peter Coleman) will be one of three team drivers involved in all the races.
Following the announcement Jonathan said:
“I am hugely excited about this sponsorship arrangement between Howards and SO24 Lombard Racing which gives me the opportunity to compete in one of the most demanding race series in the world. Whilst this is a brand new team, the management, technical staff and drivers bring a wealth of combined racing experience that should serve us well throughout the 2016 season”.
Peter Coleman who is the Managing Director and owner of Howards Group said:
“I am delighted with this agreement between ourselves and SO24 Lombard Racing which also provides the opportunity for my son Jonathan to test his racing skills in this extremely challenging series. He has always been quick behind the wheel of a racing car and he can now test his speed and endurance in perhaps the most challenging way possible – at Le Mans. I wish him individually and the team as a whole every success in the 2016 season”.
The European Le Mans Series starts on Saturday 16 April 2016 at Silverstone, the home of British motorsport where fans can enjoy the reverberating sound of 45 racing engines. We feel that this is a great opportunity for us to place the Howards name in front of a massive audience of car enthusiasts.
