Howards Motor Group Proudly Sponsors RNLI Honorary Freedom Ceremony in Weston Super Mare

RNLI Weston-super-Mare receives the prestigious Freedom of the Town honor, celebrated with a parade, ceremony, and heartfelt gratitude.
In a momentous occasion proudly sponsored by Howards Motor Group, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) was bestowed with the honorary Freedom of the Town by Weston Town Council. This prestigious accolade, granted to commemorate the RNLI's unwavering commitment to coastal safety, resonated deeply within the community of Weston-super-Mare.

The ceremony, held amidst the dignified ambiance of the Tiffany Room, served as a poignant tribute to the RNLI's enduring legacy of lifesaving service. Volunteer crews paraded with pride from the lifeboat station to The Grand Pier, escorted by the esteemed Weston Sea Cadets and Royal Marines Cadets. Their procession, a symbol of solidarity and gratitude, captured the essence of the RNLI's vital role in safeguarding coastal communities.

At the heart of the event was the official signing of the Freedom of the Town scroll, a symbolic gesture affirming the deep-rooted bond between the RNLI and the town of Weston-super-Mare. Past and present members of the RNLI, spanning crew members, fundraisers, and operational staff, gathered alongside their families to bear witness to this historic moment.

As the sun began to descent, casting a golden glow upon the water, neighboring RNLI lifeboats from Burnham-on-Sea and Barry Dock embarked on a sail-by, offering a poignant salute to their esteemed counterparts. Against this breathtaking backdrop, the significance of the RNLI's contribution to maritime safety was evident.

For RNLI Weston-super-Mare, the honorary Freedom of the Town represents more than just a commendation—it is a testament to their unwavering dedication and selflessness in the face of adversity. With over 238 lifeboat stations strategically positioned around the UK and Ireland, the RNLI forms an indispensable ring of safety, ensuring swift responses to maritime emergencies.

In the words of Jamie Martin, volunteer Launch vehicle driver,

"We are just custodians for the next generation of volunteers, and that is a huge honor. We will carry on doing what we do and continue to make history and save lives."

With the honorary Freedom of the Town as a symbol of their unwavering commitment, the RNLI embarks on a new chapter in its illustrious journey, guided by the principles of courage, compassion, and community.

  • Howards Garages (Weston) Ltd T/A Howards motor Group is an Appointed Representative of Automotive Compliance Ltd who is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA No. 497010). Automotive Compliance Ltd’s permissions as a Principal Firm allow Howards Garages (Weston) Ltd T/A Howards motor Group to act as a credit broker, not a lender, for the introduction to a limited number of lenders, and to act as an agent on behalf of the insurer for insurance distribution activities only.

We are a credit broker and not a lender. We can introduce you to a lender on our panel, which includes lenders of vehicle manufacturers. We have commercial arrangements with lenders and credit brokers which are likely to influence who we introduce you to. We are not an independent financial adviser and don’t give you any advice or recommendations. It is your choice whether you enter into any finance agreement.

Our approach is to introduce you first to the manufacturer lender linked to the franchise offering you the vehicle. They will usually offer the best available package for you, taking into account both interest rates and other contributions (but we do not guarantee they do). If they are unable to offer finance, we then seek to introduce you to someone else on our panel. We will usually receive a commission for your introduction. This will be either a fixed fee, or a fixed percentage of the amount that you borrow. This may be linked to the vehicle model you choose.

Lenders of vehicle manufacturers may also provide preferential rates to us for the funding of our vehicle stock and also provide financial support for our training and marketing. But any such amounts they and other lenders pay us will not affect the amounts you pay under your finance agreement. Before we propose you to a potential lender, we will tell you of the likely amount of commission we will receive and seek your consent to receiving this commission. The exact amount of commission will be confirmed before you sign your finance agreement.
