Matt Staple, a vehicle technician at Howards Citroen Taunton, has been awarded second place in the national Peugeot and Citroen Apprentice of the Year Awards, following an intensive nine hour assessment.
Matt, 21, has worked at Howards Citroen for three years and Steven Herbert, Service Manager at Howards Citroen Taunton said, “We are very proud of the progress Matt’s made and what he’s achieved in the short time he’s been with us.”
The nine hour, 8am-5pm assessment, included a series of practical assessments, interviews, an exam and workshop activities. Matt was joined by around 300 opponents providing stiff competition for him, but he still managed to grab second place! The former Ladymead Community School pupil commented: “I was delighted to come second out of hundreds of other apprentices. It was quite daunting being watched so closely during the assessment, but it was a great experience and I was honoured to have been selected to compete.”
Howards Motor Group first supported a young apprentice back in 1972 – Peter Coleman – who now heads up the company and employs around 240 people. It’s certainly a positive step for Matt to take and everyone at the Group congratulates him on his success!
