The Peugeot All-New 208 wins 2020 European Car of the Year award. The Peugeot 208 has won the European Car of the Year Award, taking the trophy by a comfortable margin over the Tesla Model 3. The All-New 208, which is offered with both combustion engines and electric powertrains, took a clear win when the votes from the jury were added up. It scored 281 points.
The all-new 208 was praised for its bold design, innovative technology and range of powertrains, giving the customer the ‘Power of Choice’. This is the first 2 series to be presented this accolade and the sixth European Car of the Year win for PEUGEOT, putting our brand in the top 3 in the award’s history!
Jean-Philippe Imparato, PEUGEOT CEO said, “I am particularly proud that the all-new PEUGEOT 208 has just won the 2020 Car of the Year prize. This trophy underlines the excellence of the work and great commitment of all the teams of the Brand and Groupe PSA. It’s the first time that a PEUGEOT “2 series” has triumphed! Three PEUGEOT “Cars of the Year” are currently on the road, the 308, the 3008 SUV and now the all-new 208. The COTY 2020 legitimises the Brand’s “power of choice” strategy. From now on, our customers will be able to choose between the electric PEUGEOT e-208 “Car of the Year” and the PEUGEOT 208 “Car of the Year!”
Peugeot has enjoyed plenty of success in the Car of the Year award in recent years, previously winning in 2014 with the 308 and 2017 with the 3008.
In total, Peugeot have now won the trophy six times, with the 504 (1969), 405 (1988) and 307 (2002) also taking top honours.
