If you’re looking for an economical and practical MPV, you could do worse than the new Peugeot Partner Tepee. It’s the sister marque to the Citroen Berlingo and shares a lot of that car’s performance, pricing and spec. It also comes with plenty of room inside and a selection of seat layouts. You get roof rails and doors that slide open as standard, making the car even handier.
The Tepee might look a bit boxy, but plenty of people like that look, and it seems to add to the car’s sense of rugged versatility. It’s a very frugal car to run, with the BlueHDi diesel coming in a 100bhp version that offers 112g/km emissions and 67.3mpg and a 120bhp model that’s capable of 115g/km and over 64mpg.
The Peugeot Partner Tepee is a tall car. While it’s not going to win any prizes at Le Mans, with the diesel taking 13 seconds to get to 62mph, that isn’t what you’ll be buying it for. In truth, the Tepee is a quality performer in town and on the motorway.
You’ve got a choice of two trims: the Allure and the Active, and both have plenty of kit. The Active comes with aircon, LED running lights and cruise control. With the Allure, you get DAB radio, touchscreen infotainment and Mirrorlink phone connection, plus dual-zone climate control. A reversing camera and alloy wheels are also standard.
The Tepee Partner offers comfortable driving. Front seats are simple to adjust and the rear ones provide plenty of room. The cabin makes lots of sense with tons of family-friendly storage.
Because the Partner is a little cuboid, you benefit from the huge amount of internal space that this offers. With five seats in place, you can add to that a sizeable boot space of 675 litres. Whip out all the back seats and you’re looking at a dance hall with a humungous 3,000-litre load space. That equates to the sister ship, the Partner commercial van.
The Partner Tepee is full of practical touches that families love – the sliding doors, for example, work wonders in supermarket car parks, where you’re always doing a lateral limbo dance to avoid the angry man in the car next door.
Roof rails are standard, so you instantly get a great place to put a roofbox or bikes, making the Tepee a good choice for holidays. If you want a more-rugged look, you should consider the top-spec Outdoor, which comes complete with heavy black plastic body cladding and higher ride, so it looks like a baby SUV.
In short, if it’s hardworking family practicality you’re after, the new Peugeot Partner Tepee is possibly the complete package.
