The long wait is over! The new Peugeot 3008 has been revealed and will hit showrooms in the UK next January. This time, the small SUV comes with more safety features, an upgraded interior and fancy new styling. Its Peugeot’s only SUV, and is expected to compete alongside other popular models in the sector such as the Qashqai, Tucson and Sportage.
Back in 2010, the 3008 won What Car?’s prestigious Car of the Year Award, so the new model is expected to be well received with consumers. This time, it looks more like an SUV with a bolder stance and an aggressive muscular exterior.
The dimensions of the 2017 model make the new 3008 the same length as other SUV’s such as the Kia Sportage and Hyundai Tucson. This time it sits slightly higher of the ground than its predecessor, but the overall height of the vehicle remains the same.
Peugeot have been clever when packaging the 3008, which features a larger boot and more leg space. Even though the current model provides tonnes of boot space, you can expect the new model to tackle a family sized load of luggage without a problem. An exciting new feature is a sliding floor which can be used to sit on, as well as make loading hassle free.
3008 Engine choices
You can choose from a 6 speed automatic or a 5 and 6 speed manual gearboxes. There are a variety of engine sizes to choose from, but likely to be the top choice with consumers in the UK is the 1.6litre diesel that offers 118bhp with the potential to return a staggering 70mpg. This engine is also available in a high-powered diesel version, or you can opt for a bigger 2.0litre option with the new 3008.
