Nissan has released data revealing details about the reliability of the world’s bestselling electronic car, the Leaf. The information shows that 99.99% of its battery units remain entirely fit for purpose, proving that owners can rely on model as a trustworthy and reliable car for the long-term.
Launched over four years ago, the model was one of the first all-electric cars to be released on the mass car market. Since then over 165,000 models have been sold, of which 35,000 sales were in Europe alone.
Those who have purchased the eco-friendly car have reported a significant difference in running costs. The eco-friendly car is tax free and 40 percent cheaper to run in comparison to other diesel or petrol powered cars. Drivers can also expect to save around £1,000 when travelling over the distance of 10,000 miles.
With just three main components involved in the running of the car, which are the inverter, charger and motor, the model is cheap and hassle free to maintain. In fact, British Gas now offer a 16Amp data-enabled HCU (Home Charging Unit) which has the ability to fully charge the Leaf within just eight hours, making charging at home easy and convenient.
The Leaf is available in a choice of three trims; the Acenta, Visia and Tekna, and you can expect large boot space in them all thanks to the relocation of the charging point. All models are fully equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen complete with sat-nav, which incorporates details of range and charging points. The Leaf also offers Bluetooth so you can monitor air-con and charging levels via mobile phone, as well as automatic lights and wipers, LED headlamps, privacy glass and a rear parking camera.
