Drawing inspiration from the colourful Brazilian culture where it was developed, Nissan launched the “Kick” crossover concept at the Sao Paulo Motor Show this week. Featuring similar design aesthetics to the Juke and EXTREM, the “Kick” is the outcome of global collaboration and is expected to retail globally in addition to South America if, of course, the concept moves towards commercial production.
The “Kick” is pitched as the realistic market version of the EXTREM, again a vehicle born from the streets of Brazil and built to represent the character of a nation, designed for its people. A prominent stance with aerodynamic lines, the crossover sits on large alloys that presents an energetic car ready for all driving challenges. The V-Motion grille is vital to start the fluid and adaptable motion the car wants to achieve, creating a flowing effect that inspires both durability and speed. Delivering a duality of both style and substance, a truly exciting and innovative outcome is presented that remains loyal to Nissan’s creative ethos. Finished in satin liquid titanium with pops and bursts of Rio sunset orange, the “Kick” is compact with an alleviated ride height perfect for both urban driving and covering the vast distances of the South American continent. Noticing a distinct difference between the colour of cars on Brazilian roads and those displayed by the exuberant nature of the country’s culture, Nissan decided to reflect this in the colour scheme of the “Kick”. Blending both the grey tones of urban Sao Paulo and the bright natural colours of the Rio sunset, this combination achieves a uniquely Latin American style that oozes both flair and practicality. Flashes of colour on the alloys, skid plate and roof echo the energy found on the streets of Brazil and crafts a bold statement for automotive design on a whole, indicating the future of Nissan product design and development.
Launched as the centre piece of the Nissan stand, the Kick Concept will be on display until November 9th.
