New Kia Soul EV is Electric

Kia re-shapes the electric landscape with the Soul EV, becoming one of only a handful of manufacturers offering a battery-powered electric car in the UK.  Benefiting from almost 30 years of research, emissions based tax incentives and an ever increasing environmentally conscious motorist have meant the market has never been so buyout for the electric revolution.

Previous concerns surrounding electricity powered vehicles often centred on limited range and how it often wasn’t practical in relation to how many miles could be driven before a charge was required. Now, through partnering with SK Innovation, an evolutionary lithium-ion polymer battery resides in the EV, containing greater energy density than those in any comparable model. Technically, this is 200 Watt-hours per kilo of weight, meaning 132 miles can be achieved on a single charge. It’s attention to detail that makes the Soul EV streets ahead when it comes to functionality. Nickel rich composites are used for the battery cathodes ensuring optimal delivery of power from the battery to the engine. Regenerative braking means the battery is “topped up” as you coast or slow down, harnessing energy otherwise lost into the atmosphere.

Just as important as practicality, the EV is fun to drive with 109 bhp equivalent power and 285 Nm of torque. Ideal for urban driving, acceleration is brisk, hitting 0-60 in just under 11 seconds and a top speed of 90mph that makes motorway driving a breeze. The kinetic energy re-used through regenerative braking means a once frustrating and fuel-intense city journey becomes economically savvy.

Performance technology is carried into the cabin, with in-drive entertainment class-leading, including DAB RDS radio, MP3 compatibility, steering wheel mounted controls and Bluetooth. From a safety perspective, Anti-Lock brakes, Emergency Brake Assist and Vehicle Stability management are just a selection of the technologies provided.

As with all Kia motors, a 7 year / 100 000 mile warranty is provided as standard, including all labour and parts except those expected with normal wear and tear. For peace of mind, transparent advice and unbeatable customer service choose Howards Kia Weston-super-Mare
