History in the making

History was made with Kia’s best-ever three-day order during the weekend launch of the New Sportage which went on sale on Friday 5th February. Almost 1,500 sold-orders were made during the weekend when word of the car’s remarkable, high-quality appearance and technologically advanced, up-graded interior spread.

Paul Philpott, President and Chief Executive of Kia Motors (UK) Limited said, ”the all-new Sportage is a significant step forward for Kia, both in terms of interior quality and dynamic refinement and sophistication – and clearly both existing and new customers recognise that fact!”

Just as the new fourth-generation Kia Sportage was released, the outgoing version was crowned the winner of the Used Car of the Year category at AM Awards.

Kia Sportage’s WOW factors

Now let’s take a look at the magnificent New Kia Sportage in more detail:

Sporty Appearance

Feast your eyes on the sleek, urban-friendly and athletic exterior which perfectly incorporates the key features of an SUV.

At the front you’ll find a wide interpretation of Kia's ‘tiger nose’ main grille with a chrome surround. The bonnet curves up to cover the elongated headlamps which extend along the sides. LED daytime running lamps are standard, and the headlamps are bi-xenon adaptive units on grades 4/KX-4 and First Edition.

Character lines stretch across the body to portray tension and precision, emphasised by sharp styled alloy wheels. The rear boasts a chiselled look with a mixture of surfaces and lines. Underneath the tailgate is an aerodynamic diffuser. From grades 4/KX-4, LED rear lamp units are fitted as standard.

The new Sportage is 40mm longer than its predecessor, with a 30mm greater wheelbase but unchanged width and height – for a sportier look and greater fuel efficiency. If you fancy a more sporty flourish, new GT-Line versions of the Sportage gives Kia’s compact crossover a distinctive body treatment.

Economical Engines

Kia have extensively revised the four engines that were available in the previous model to meet EU6 emissions regulations. The result is up to 7mpg more economical engines with CO2 reductions as much as 29g/km.

Kia’s popular 1.7-litre CDRi engine boasts an improvement of more than 7mpg more fuel-efficient in combined mode while CO2 emissions have dropped by 16g/km.
Both the lower-powered (134bhp) and higher-powered (182bhp) 2.0-litre CRDI engines combined with an automatic transmission have reduced emissions by 29g/km and 23gg/km respectively.

Drivability has also been improved with more torque; the less-powerful 2.0-litre diesel now produces 275lb ft compared with the previous model's 236lb ft, and the 182bhp engine increases to from 282lb ft to 295lb ft.
Fun Driving Dynamic

There is no doubt about it - the Kia Sportage is a fun car to drive! The fourth-generation model can tackle any twisty UK roads with precision through a combination of a much stiffer body shell, extensive suspension revisions and a new steering system.

Improved Interior Comfort

Kia takes a leap forward in providing the driver with a quality ride in the new Sportage. The cabin features flush-fitting fixtures and trim, soft-to-touch materials and luxurious detailing. From grade 2 upwards a touch-screen system is fitted standard, which greatly reduces the number of buttons on the central console.

You’ll be amazed at the more spacious cabin all thanks to the extended wheelbase; this has enabled comfortable increases to be made to the legroom, headroom and boot capacity.

Five-star Safety

All Sportage models in the UK have Kia’s Motor Driven Power Steering (R-MDPS) which enables sharper responses and greater precision. An all-disc, anti-lock braking system is supported by Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BAS) bringing maximum braking power to the wheels with most grip in an emergency.

4/KX/-4 and First Edition models are fitted with Autonomous Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Detection and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

All models from grade 2/KX-2 have Lane Keep Assist, High Beam Assist and a Speed Limit Information function displayed in the instrument cluster. A reversing camera is integrated with the 7.0- or 8.0-inch navigation touch-screen with rear parking sensors as standard.

Euro NCAP has given the new Sportage a five-star safety rating even under the ever-tougher testing regime.

New GT Line

Sitting between grades 2 and 3 is the GT-Line, new to the Sportage range. This sporty spec boasts 19-inch alloy wheels, Kia GT's signature quad front fog lights, dual exhausts and metallic exterior trim. Where a DCT gearbox has been chosen, paddle shifters will also feature, as well as various interior trim upgrades.

Automotive Compliance Ltd’s permissions as a Principal Firm allows Howard Garages (Weston) Ltd to act as a credit broker, not as a lender, for the introduction to a limited number of lenders and to act as an agent on behalf of the insurer for insurance distribution activities only. Company Number: 1108986

We can introduce you to a selected panel of lenders, which includes manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent. An introduction to a lender does not amount to independent financial advice and we act as their agent for this introduction. Our approach is to introduce you first to the manufacturer lender linked directly to the particular franchise you are purchasing your vehicle from, who are usually able to offer the best available package for you, taking into account both interest rates and other contributions. If they are unable to make you an offer of finance, we then seek to introduce you to whichever of the other lenders on our panel is able to make the next best offer of finance for you. Our aim is to secure the best deal you are eligible for from our panel of lenders. Lenders may pay a fixed commission to us for introducing you to them, calculated by reference to the vehicle model or amount you borrow. Different lenders may pay different commissions for such introductions, and manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent may also provide preferential rates to us for the funding of our vehicle stock and also provide financial support for our training and marketing. But any such amounts they and other lenders pay us will not affect the amounts you pay under your finance agreement, all of which are set by the lender concerned. If you ask us what the amount of commission is, we will tell you in good time before the Finance agreement is executed. All finance applications are subject to status, terms and conditions apply, UK residents only, 18’s or over. Guarantees may be required.
