Howards Motor Group Sponsor Clevedon Cricket Club

We are delighted to announce that our newest sponsor is the Clevedon Cricket Club, one of the well-known local cricket clubs in the country…

As a local business we are always on the look out to support other initiatives and good causes in the surrounding area. We are proud to announce that our latest sponsorship venture is with the Clevedon Cricket Club, one of the well-known local clubs in the country.

Citroen and Kia retailers in Weston-super-Mare will be sponsoring the new team kits, which will be printed with the official Howards logo. The club has also recently received a grant of £29,000 from the England and Wales Cricket Board to put towards the much needed installation of three new training nets.

Clevedon Cricket Club Chairman, Paul Jenkins, is delighted by the new sponsorship deal and has said, “The dealership’s sponsorship has enabled us to provide each team with smart kit which will be worn with pride. A strong partnership has already developed between Clevedon Cricket Club and Howards Motor Group’s Citroen and Kia dealerships, and this is intended to last at least three years and, we hope, for much longer going forward. Without the support of businesses such as this, we wouldn’t be able to commit to the many fixtures we have each season.”

“I’d like to thank Howards Motor Group for their generous sponsorship. It’s thanks to companies like this that we are able to run and develop our club, especially our junior section which continues to grow from strength to strength, something we feel that benefits the local community greatly.”

The club has had many great players over the years including Geraint Owen Jones MBE who has played for Kent Country Cricket Club and was also first-choice wicketkeeper for England in both Test and One-Day cricket up until August 2006. He is currently the captain for Gloucestershire in first-class cricket and continues to play for Papua New Guinea national cricket squad.

Other players include Scottish cricketer Joshua Davey, who now plays for Somerset County Cricket Club; South African cricketer Kyle Abbott, who now plays for teams in his home country; and New Zealand player Andrew Caddick, who has since retired from his career as a successful England blower.

Paul Jenkins continued saying, “Our First Eleven team now play in the West of England Premier League. With our current training programme and the competitiveness of our teams let’s hope there’s every possibility that some of our junior players will go on to play professionally in the sport.”

“Howards Motor Group’s involvement through sponsorship is very welcome indeed. It will be great to see our team members look their best during this summer.”

We’d like to take this opportunity to wish the Clevedon Cricket Club all the best for their upcoming season!

  • Howards Garages (Weston) Ltd T/A Howards motor Group is an Appointed Representative of Automotive Compliance Ltd who is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA No. 497010). Automotive Compliance Ltd’s permissions as a Principal Firm allow Howards Garages (Weston) Ltd T/A Howards motor Group to act as a credit broker, not a lender, for the introduction to a limited number of lenders, and to act as an agent on behalf of the insurer for insurance distribution activities only.

We are a credit broker and not a lender. We can introduce you to a lender on our panel, which includes lenders of vehicle manufacturers. We have commercial arrangements with lenders and credit brokers which are likely to influence who we introduce you to. We are not an independent financial adviser and don’t give you any advice or recommendations. It is your choice whether you enter into any finance agreement.

Our approach is to introduce you first to the manufacturer lender linked to the franchise offering you the vehicle. They will usually offer the best available package for you, taking into account both interest rates and other contributions (but we do not guarantee they do). If they are unable to offer finance, we then seek to introduce you to someone else on our panel. We will usually receive a commission for your introduction. This will be either a fixed fee, or a fixed percentage of the amount that you borrow. This may be linked to the vehicle model you choose.

Lenders of vehicle manufacturers may also provide preferential rates to us for the funding of our vehicle stock and also provide financial support for our training and marketing. But any such amounts they and other lenders pay us will not affect the amounts you pay under your finance agreement. Before we propose you to a potential lender, we will tell you of the likely amount of commission we will receive and seek your consent to receiving this commission. The exact amount of commission will be confirmed before you sign your finance agreement.
