Howards Motor Group Shining Stars: The Prince Of Wales School Young Carers

The Prince of Wales School in Dorchester's Young Carers Group enjoy a special festive outing held at Poundbury Garden Centre.

Howards Motor Group were proud to contribute towards the success of a special festive outing for The Prince Of Wales School Dorchester's Young Carers group, held this week at Poundbury Garden Centre. The event, made possible by the sponsorship of Howards Motor Group and support from MyTime Young Carers, provided a joyful break for children who take on vital caregiving responsibilities at home.

The afternoon was packed with festive cheer, as the young carers:

Explored the stunning Christmas displays and selected a special decoration to take home, courtesy of Howards Motor Group.

Enjoyed hot chocolate and cake at The Engine Room Café.

Received delightful Christmas goody bags from MyTime Young Carers, a Bournemouth-based charity dedicated to supporting young carers.

Adalynn, one of the young carers, expressed her excitement about the day:

"I love my new decoration and gift bag, and my jumper is really cool! The hot chocolate and cake were yummy too!"

Mrs. Brooker, Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) and Young Carers Coordinator at the school, highlighted the importance of such experiences:

"It was heartwarming to see the joy on the children’s faces as they explored the festive displays and enjoyed some well-deserved treats. Our young carers often take on so much responsibility, and it’s vital for them to feel valued and supported."

The Prince of Wales School defines young carers as children under the age of 18 who help to look after a family member with a disability, illness, or other needs. Often taking on responsibilities beyond their years, young carers demonstrate exceptional empathy and resilience.

Headteacher Mr. Gary Spracklen added:

"We are incredibly proud of our young carers and the compassion they show every day. Today’s trip was a chance to celebrate their contributions and offer a moment of joy and connection, thanks to the generosity of Howards Motor Group and MyTime Young Carers. This is what community support looks like at its finest."

The school continues to champion the recognition and support of young carers, ensuring they feel seen, valued, and celebrated for their extraordinary contributions.

  • Howards Garages (Weston) Ltd T/A Howards motor Group is an Appointed Representative of Automotive Compliance Ltd who is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA No. 497010). Automotive Compliance Ltd’s permissions as a Principal Firm allow Howards Garages (Weston) Ltd T/A Howards motor Group to act as a credit broker, not a lender, for the introduction to a limited number of lenders, and to act as an agent on behalf of the insurer for insurance distribution activities only.

We are a credit broker and not a lender. We can introduce you to a lender on our panel, which includes lenders of vehicle manufacturers. We have commercial arrangements with lenders and credit brokers which are likely to influence who we introduce you to. We are not an independent financial adviser and don’t give you any advice or recommendations. It is your choice whether you enter into any finance agreement.

Our approach is to introduce you first to the manufacturer lender linked to the franchise offering you the vehicle. They will usually offer the best available package for you, taking into account both interest rates and other contributions (but we do not guarantee they do). If they are unable to offer finance, we then seek to introduce you to someone else on our panel. We will usually receive a commission for your introduction. This will be either a fixed fee, or a fixed percentage of the amount that you borrow. This may be linked to the vehicle model you choose.

Lenders of vehicle manufacturers may also provide preferential rates to us for the funding of our vehicle stock and also provide financial support for our training and marketing. But any such amounts they and other lenders pay us will not affect the amounts you pay under your finance agreement. Before we propose you to a potential lender, we will tell you of the likely amount of commission we will receive and seek your consent to receiving this commission. The exact amount of commission will be confirmed before you sign your finance agreement.
