Churchill Academy & Sixth Form are hosting, once again, their Young Dancer of the Year Event at Coombe Lodge on 10th December.
The Young Dancer event gives dancers from Year 8 – 13 a chance to perform a solo piece to family, friends, teachers and judges, to show them their progress throughout the year and debut their favourite and most perfected dances. At the end of the night, a student will be awarded the Young Dancer of the Year title and trophy. An additional student will be awarded the ‘Teacher’s Choice’ award for showing great contribution and commitment.
Shelley Lippe, Head of Dance at Churchill Academy, said;
“The evening is a great way to showcase our most able dancers in a beautiful and unique venue. It’s also a great benefit to the students as it pushes them to further progress their dance and choreography skills.”
The event will be adjudicated by Lorna Gaines, founder and director of Jumpin’ Dance Company, and Viv Stayford from Swindon Young Dance Academy (YDA), giving the students a chance to perform in front of some of the leading people in dance in the area and demonstrate their talent. They may even demonstrate their passion for a future career in dance.
Howards Citroen are delighted to be sponsoring the event this year, and Stuart Mackintosh, Sales Manager at Howards Citroen in Weston-super-Mare, said;
“At Howards Citroen, we are keen to show our support for the local community and are proud to be sponsoring Churchill Academy’s ‘Young Dance of the Year’ event this year. This is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the achievements of young people and help them reach their potential”
All at Howards Group wish the best of luck to the dancers of Churchill Academy on the 10th December. The winner will be decided on the night and we’ll be sure to announce, and congratulate, the winner after the event.
