What ingredient will make your day perfect?
Citroen has the answer!
A survey was carried out across the UK to find out what elements will make their perfect day. Out of the 2000 ladies and gents who participated in the survey, ‘receiving a hug’ came out on top with ‘receiving a kiss from a loved one’ close behind.
Here are the results in order of the top six ingredients for the perfect day:
Top 6 Ingredients for the Perfect Day |
Female % |
Male % |
1. Receiving a hug |
58.61 |
39.80 |
2. Receiving a kiss from a loved one |
50.79 |

3. Having a lie-in |

Naturally there were differences in the results according to the age group of the participants, such as 25-44 year olds preferred a ‘lie-in’ while 47 percent of over-55s said getting a smile from a stranger was uplifting.
Why we should have regular doses of these ingredients?
Now a little bit of science behind these results...
A hug or a kiss from a loved one is known to stimulate certain chemicals in our brain including:
• Oxytocin - promotes feelings of devotion, trust and bonding.
• Dopamine - responsible for giving us that ‘feel-good’ feeling.
• Serotonin - makes you feel significant or important.
All of us need a good dose of sunshine every once in a while when the typical UK weather allows it! Sunlight has several benefits including:
• Giving us a healthy dose of Vitamin D.
• Helps us to manage our “body clocks”.
• Helps us fight against winter depression.
A simple smile even from a complete stranger can lower stress, anxiety and improve the immune system.
How is Citroen spreading the feel-good feeling?
"‘Perfect Day’ is about communicating the joy and passion for life that we have at Citroën” said Victoria Hatfield, Platform Head - Marketing, Citroën UK. “By using real people who find their passion for life by helping others, taking on exceptional challenges and finding beauty in the everyday experiences that life brings we hope to build an emotional connection with our current and prospective customers."
Steve Jay, Managing Partner of Scorch London, the Soho-based advertising agency behind the new campaign, said: "Citroën’s ambition to change the mood of the nation through not only this video activity, but also the 24 hour test drive promotion, demonstrates the cultural impact that the brand wants to have on the UK.”
