The Exige was designed and built here in Britain, as a hardcore coupe version of the Lotus Elise roadster. This 2-door, 2-seater sports car was launched in 2000 providing a larger engine since the Exige Series 3. The power plant used is a supercharged V6 engine and is available as a 2-door coupe or 2-door roadster. The focus for the Exige build was to produce a lightweight sports car and yes they have achieved just that.

With the Exige, you have the choice of 3 models… The Lotus Exige Sport 350, Lotus Exige Sport 410 and the Lotus Exige Cup 430. The Exige range all depends on how fast you want to go, and if you want to see how it handles around the track. The Lotus Exige Cup 430 is the quickest street-legal Lotus ever built. This lightweight car has been built to be an engineered sports car. It’s small, low stance provides nearly zero drag, letting it hit the quick 0-60mph times stated below. 3-way adjustable dampers allow an enthusiastic driver to corner with low amounts of body roll on the road or at the track.

Available in both Coupe and Roadster, the 350 Sport is sculpted for accelerated aerodynamic efficiency. A rear wing diffuser isn’t there just as a styling cue, rather a design feature to generate more downforce at high speeds, without increasing drag. The Exige is also one of the first Lotus models to feature the exposed aluminium manual gear shifter. You can now add high-performance options to your Exige, such as carbon fibre panels, forged wheels and a lightweight titanium exhaust.

Step into a well-designed and engineered sports car. Built for the track, yet comfortable on the open road. If you are serious about driving, this is the sports car for you! 410bhp with 420Nm paired with a weight of 1,110kg offers an exhilarating drive (369bhp per ton). The Sport 410 is capable of a 0-60mph time of just 3.3 seconds with a top speed of 174mph. You’ll slide through the air with balanced, detailed body lines generating 70kg of downforce at the rear and 45kg at the front. This provides a total downforce of 115kg at 174mph. This is a sports car engineered for speed plus cornering...the numbers don’t lie!

Lotus Exige Sport 410 Orange

There are many similarities between the 410 Sport and the Exige Cup 43, including the same oil cooler, larger clutch, AP racing J-hook brake discs and 3-way adjustable Nitron dampers.

The cabin offers a driver-focused design. It offers the Lotus renowned aluminium open-gate manual gear shifter, providing quick and precise gear changes with the signature Lotus quirks. When sat in the cabin you are greeted by Alcantara trim on the steering wheel and interior, covering Lotus’ specialist designed and built carbon fibre sports seats.

With all track cars, there is a weight saving element to each build. Just because this is a road-legal car, doesn’t mean this exercise was scrapped. Lotus has provided several weight saving options, such as a titanium exhaust, which removed a whopping 10kg from the rear. Many panels are produced from carbon fibre, including sill covers, barge boards, roof etc. Nevertheless, you will be pleased to know this lightweight sports car still comes with air con (air conditioning) and an entertainment system.

Welcome to the Ultimate Exige experience. The Exige Cup 430 is a charger cooled engine which producing a consistent 430bhp with 171kg of downforce. If there is one car to buy to race around the track and take on everyday roads, this is it!


Let’s get into some numbers. The Cup 430 produces as much downforce at 100mph as the Exige Sport 350 does at 170mph. The Cup 430 weighs just over 1,110kg this is including a full tank of petrol. This Lotus model produces 387bhp per ton with 440Nn of torque from 4,000rpm. Providing an eye-watering 0-60mph time of just 3.2 seconds, as you move to the top speed of 174mph.

A deeper front splitter works alongside vented wheel arches to produce 76kg of downforce at the front. At the rear, you are presented with a high mounted motorsport wing with aluminium diffuser. This combination provides 95kg of downforce at the rear.

The body is full of carbon fibre panels, these include front splitter, front access panel, roof, diffuser surround, enlarged air-intake side pods, one-piece tailgate and a race rear wing.  Due to the speed of this model Lotus has provided better stopping power than the other models. Forged 4-piston AP Racing brake callipers and higher thermal capacity 2-piece J-hook brake discs sit either corner front and rear.

Engineers have made sure the immense power is delivered to the manual gearbox through a larger 240mm diameter clutch, whilst keeping it light with a high-flow (10kg lighter!) titanium exhaust system which sounds like no other Exige. Traction control will save you from spinning those tyres. Not just one standard setting, no that not how Lotus build cars. They have added 5 pre-set traction levels 1%, 3%, 6%, 9%, 12% slip (with ESP switched off) to maximise handling and customise your power-driving experience.
