Kia Sorento Hybrid Technology
Kia has built a self-charging SUV that pairs an economical 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol self-charging engine with an electric motor. The electric motor is powered by a 1.49kWh lithium-polymer battery allowing this SUV to be fuel efficient while producing low emissions. It is also available with a 2.2-litre diesel engine. Kia’s powertrain pairing allows the Sorento to switch between driving sole on electricity, petrol or combining both petrol and electric engines. The Sorento comes with a regenerative braking system allowing what would be wasted energy when braking or slowing down, to be utilised to re-charge the battery. This reduces emissions while keeping the flexibility and versatility of Kia’s SUV.
Just because this is an SUV doesn’t mean it’s not designed for speed. You’ll notice paddle shifters behind the steering wheel. This allows for faster gear shifts without removing your hand from the steering wheel. This feature also boosts the driving dynamic by increasing torque..
